Envelopes: printing and envelope design
Envelopes are a very common form of communication in modern business. They can come in various sizes and can be windowless, with a left window, or with a right window. If a finished envelope is printed, the design must take into account the gripper (the clamp on the cylinder of the printing press that holds the paper during transport through the machine). The gripper can be from 7 mm to 10 mm and no printing can appear in that area on the finished envelope.

Envelopes can be windowless, with a left window, or with a right window. The paper weight commonly used for envelopes is 80gr/m2 . On some machines you can print these envelopes by having the gripper hold them by the "feet" instead of the "head". In that case it is advisable to open all envelopes before printing.

Envelope printing
Envelope printing is done on Heidelberg single-color and five-color presses. Due to the high precision of these machines, we can also print envelopes in full color 4/0.

Envelopes are usually produced in these sizes:
C5 - (162mm x 229mm)
B5 - (176mm x 250mm)

Envelope printing is produced on a Heidelberg five-color offset press, and for smaller print runs envelope printing is done on the Xerox Versant 80 digital press.
